I am not saying that MJs are not hospitable. What I am saying is that the most expensive hotel in Hargeisa was built recently by an MJ guy, and during all of this Puntland issue there is no talk against him or his property. Even if we were at war, no one would touch his property in Hargeisa, and I doubt the same goes for any other region. To be honest, this is not even the case in the whole of Somaliland.

If Somaliland joins the union we would be the swing block, and that would mean one of the major groups would lose out. They don't actually want union. They don't actually want to share their money. The way it works now is better for them all. They don't want us to be independent or fully in, this limbo suits them. If we came fully in, it would probably be to make a powersharing arrangement with former USC, which would lead to more war.

It doesn't have research capacity on the ground. It is not capable of making effective evaluations. Effective statistics and research findings require a strong centralised power, something absent from all parts of Somalia & Somaliland.
