Somalis have the same attitude as Khaleeji Arabs, but without the money. Make that make sense. It's a step further, because Adult Somali males will happily take money from women whether that woman is their wife or a relative in the diaspora, instead of rolling up his sleeves.
This stigma against manual labour needs to be fought by the Islamic leaders and the traditional elders, but if they are silent about it, are they silently promoting this lazy attitude? These are conversations people are not having enough.

I hope the second generation isn’t sending money back like their parents, the irony is you’re helping people you probably haven’t met.

Being grateful to Allah and the people who deserve it is a blessing that only a few are given. Only thing we can do is make dua to Allah to guide them to that level of awareness. If one wishes to, they can also gently speak to people about the amount of blessings they have that we don’t have in the west as a reminder. Alhamdulilah
