somalis + arab orgins.

there seems to be a good amount of arab-somalis on this forum so im wondering where these arab orgins come from? ive heard before that theyre are tribes in somalia that have arab ancestors like yemen but i have a friend whos ancestors were from oman aswell and hes somali. do most somalis have some arab dna or is it just some specific tribes?? ive always thought most somalis lookalike despite some being arab and somali, can different tribes tell each other apart??

It is certain that some of dir and gabooye have South Arab origins

Where are you from? If your Somali you should know the answer or at least ask your parents/elders. There are myth tales of Somali descend like Samale, Jabarti and Isaaq and there are scientific proof of Somali origins.

It's a very small minority ukhti... Most Somalis are near full Cushites with around 5-10 Arabian ancestry and are the purest while other Ethiopians etc have legit Arabian ancestry at least 25-30 or something like that.

All Somalis have Arabian DNA. The amount differs depending on what region you're from.

As for how people self-identify, many Ethnic Somalis without any recent Arabian origin identify with being Arabs because they're Arabised. Whereas, some Somalis have more recent Arabian/Arab ancestry.

Pakistanis & Malays only claim to being related to the Prophet's family/tribal lineage, almost none of them claim to be Arabs.

As for Somalis, we've been a part of the Arab World for a long time. We're not a member of the Arab league for no reason. All of our notable historical figures spoke Arabic and self-identified with Arab culture, like for instance the rulers of Adal spoke Arabic which was the language of the court/official status.

@Doctorabdi Had all Somalis been urbanised like during the times of Adal [which was an Arabic speaking realm], the vast majority of Somalis would've become Arabised linguistically.

It's difficult to linguistically Arabise a people who are constantly on the move.

Somalis are not Arab and it is only claimed by people who are insecure. We don't speak Arabic, we don't look Arab, we don't have Arab culture, where are we Arab from? As for DNA, we don't have Arab DNA and only a few clans have an Arab ancestor 1000 years ago, practically nothing.
