Oman is the same. They just don't cater to western audiences like the other gulf states. They still exploit non-Arab muslims
Exploit? Sounds like you drank the Western propaganda kool-aid. Islamically how are the Omanis doing harm to the non-Arab Muslims who live there? You do realize many non-Arab Omanis exist right?

I've heard there are some somalis that came to oman generations ago

Arab and non Arab, it's not about that. Egyptians, Yemenis and others are treated the same as south Asians and Africans in these rentier states. It's about who is a citizen and who isn't. Non skilled non westerners usually get paid peanuts. Justification? Life is cheaper in their third world xaar holes:lol:

ISLAM. When they say ARAB they mean MUSLIM 😂 these people dont know shit about our cultures. My old yt women co worker would always bring up saudi arabia to me like i was from there even when i told her im somali 😂😂 they dont know the difference.

This the consequences of the global spread of salafism in the 20th century that affected most of what's known as the "arab world" including somalia.

When many countries were finally beginning to create a concrete national identity after years of colonialism, the arabs came and pulled the rug from underneath them now the most reliable imams and scholars were guys like ibn baz, the default sheikh attire was the saudi attire, and every other national islamic institution faced smear campaigns and was either preaching bid'ah or wasn't following the salaf properly.

So yeah it was natural that ppl would be inclined to just follow the saudis amd wear their khamis and black abaya and niqab and distance themselves from the local culture and calling it bid'ah or jahiliya, but good thing is people are starting to wake up from this nonsense and realize that islam didn't come to make people a monolith and that it can exist within any culture and that you don't have to follow arabs to be a better muslim

So sad. Even the schools of thought were a lot more diverse.

What do you think if Somalia didn't collapse in the 1990s and transitioned to democracy do you think salafi ideology would effect us

Does anyone know who started this balaayo? :damn::damn: The fact that people are starting to believe that Somalis abandoned their original culture to 'become Arabs' has to be a psyop.

You see Dhaanto festivals in the diaspora. Somali traditional music is still being created, and I have yet to see a Somali creating a song in Arabic Scale or with heavy Middle Eastern influence.

Here's a modern rendition of a beautiful old Somali song with traditional instruments:

Somali is the majority language with Somali equivalents for every Arabic, Italian, and English loan word.

Somalis dress in Dirac, baati, macawiis, hoos guunti, guuntino etc++ whenever I'm at home I'm in my baati the whole time. Even old attire is being brought back e.g. Jubbad (mind you, this has been continuously worn, just not on a large scale e.g. by Somali Sufis and Sultans).

Here are some websites to support Somali cultural attire:

Somalis eat Somali cuisine and take part in nomadic traditions. This video is only 7 years old:

There's so much more, but I wish this site would show more appreciation and spread more positivity about our dhaqan
Only coonish niggas be saying this

So nothing specific. Just a link by a Western “human rights” org. There is no discrimination against non-Arabs. There is only a distinction between nationals & non-nationals. There is nothing wrong with that.

They use the kaffala system to lock in migrant workers, isn’t that not human rights violation

She was already very light-skinned. But the lighting combined with the makeup and skin bleaching makes her look like a legit white person in this video.
It doesn't help we already have smaller features generally too. These bleached ladies are starting to look like a new ethnic group all together.

One thing I want to really see is somali anime which I think has real potential. I mean look at this somali gibli stuff I found in tiktok.

It's unlikely to happen. A lot of Somalis considering drawing haram, so I doubt we'll get this. I'd love to make one but even if we make one or two, I doubt there will ever be a real industry in it.

Inshallah we’ll have more of our own tv shows, anime, movies etc. once we get our money up 😍 S-Drama/Sollywood come soon
Yeah and not content that turns our people, culture and language into a joke. Sometimes I want Somalis to take control of our narrative but when the men do, they tend to disappoint.

Why does the first somali cartoon related content I’ve seen have jokes about our features? Proud people who love themselves should be in charge of any movies or animations that come out of our country

We got all the Qashin ones with one brain cell.
it could just be that in the places where somalis settled in the US & Scandinavia there was no established muslim community that had already set up those institutions, whereas in the UK u had pakistanis and others who came decades before. Somalis didn’t feel a need to create their own anything
