Most Somalis look the part. Don't worry. They certainly catch differences in appearance, though. I feel sorry more for the girls than the guys since they are more likely to be under greater scrutiny in terms of appearance.

I usually acknowledge the good and the bad. I don't pretend the uncomfortable stuff doesn't exist simply because I'm unaffected and unbothered. And yes, Somalis can be lookist IRL as well. Yes I think you’re right. Where I grew up Somalis never had problem a with black people so you never see them reject the black label. But Somalis do reject the label in places where there were issues with black peoples

While I do agree with you partially grouping people based on complexion is pretty lazy

You never see people grouping Koreans and Norwegians because of their pale skin yet do the same to horn africans and niger congo people

Contrastingly Somalis aren't really known globally and media does homogenize the continent of Africa a lot so I understand people wouldn't make that connection

The good work ethics of these somalis and their decent interaction with others offsets all onlinme buffoonary by somalis themselves or by imitators.
