-Is abortion acceptable?
Yes.
- Under what circumstances is abortion acceptable?
The circumstance doesn't matter as long as it's done before the rooh is blown into the fetus (before 120 days). I think that's reasonable and enough time for a woman to decide whether she wants to continue with a pregnancy or not. After 120 days, I support an abortion only if the mother's health is at risk.

Stop misleading the Muslims. :ohlord:

Abortion isn't permissible under any circumstances. There must be a legitimate reason to go through with the abortion. Come on, this is basic fiqh. It's impermissible to abort a pregnancy at any stage unless there is a legitimate reason. According to scholars, aborting a pregnancy is only permissible in cases where there is harm to either the mother or child's life, rape or incest. Aborting the fetus for fear of the difficulty of raising children or of being unable to bear the costs of maintaining and educating them, or for fear for their future or because the couple feel that they have enough children isn't permissible.

Allah has warned against making halal what He made haram. Refrain from misleading the Muslims. :ohlord:

Wallah I despise it when the ignorant mislead others with their fallacious opinions that have no basis in our noble religion. An ignorant person speaking about the rulings of Islam is indeed a major calamity on our Ummah.

I believe abortion is acceptable as long the fetus threatens the mother's life or the mother was impregnated through evil means

Abortion becomes haram when the ruh is blown into the fetus. The scholars differ as to when that is, but the consensus is ~120 days. I too would like the SSpot scholars to prove that abortion before the ruh is blown into the fetus is haram. :patrice:

Read khattab's comment. It's only allowed when the pregnancy was as a result of rape or other evil means. If the mother had unforced sexual intercourse and gets pregnant as a result then she can't have an abortion. 120 days is agreed upon by scholars. Sometimes the Ruh is blown into the fetus after 120 days but it's safer to have the abortion within that time-frame. If a woman has a consensual intercourse and gets pregnant as a result, she cannot have an abortion.

Where's the proof that it's haram?
