Sultan Osman Mahamud Royal Emblem = Inspiration for the Somali Flag?

Vexillogical similarity is not evidence that one flag is based on or a copy of another. If you want to claim Mohammed Liban's design is based on the Italian colonial coat of arms, prove it. Otherwise, everything you've written on this topic can be dismissed as pure conjecture. We have an assortment of primary evidence and historical scholarship which corroborate the official story: the azure ground was adopted in honour of the United Nations and the white star is a homage to the early SYL flag:

Moreover, your infographic is misleading. The first coat of arms wasn't adopted until 1919; nine years after the SYL flag:

For the colony of Italian Somaliland a coat of arms was adopted by decree of the 3rd of April 1919. It is parted per fess Azure and Gules, a fess wavy Argent, in chief a panther (Panthera pardus - Felidæ) passant guardant proper, above his head a five-pointed star Argent, and in base two six-pointed stars Argent. On the shield is an antique crown of nine points.

If any party copied here, it's the Italians who wanted to subvert Somali symbols of resistance and autonomy.

resembles the colonial coat of arms

If a flag need only share a few similarities to allege plagiarism, did Somaliland copy their Yemeni neighbours? I'm curious.

Warya lay off from the internet "nine years after SYL flag" kulaha :heh: :drakekidding:

SYL or as it was known SYC was founded in 1943 by the help of the British military administration in the Mogadishu during WW2

I just checked this and you're absolutely right.

However, my other points, which you curiously failed to engage with, still stand. Do you have any evidence that isn't "flag look same" to support your claims? Additionally, what's stopping someone from making your exact argument about the Somaliland flag?
