I assure you, we Somali-Canadians don't really think about Arabs. We get on with our day and don't spend too much time thinking about them. And I only know a small handful of Arabs personally (mainly from Lebanon and Iraq).

But Abdi Johnson spends every waking hour obsessing over them, cursing them in his sleep, and figuring out ways to bring them up in conversation. He could be shukaansing a pretty Somali girl and somehow bring up his deep hatred of Arabs into the conversation. He's THAT mental.

I've given black eyes to Arab kids while growing up if I got into a problem with them. I've shoved sand in their mouths while in the playground if I was irritated by them. I was never one to put these people on a pedestal.

Abdi-Johnson however, probably spent his highschool years sucking up to Arabs and putting them on a pedestal. And now he's bitter that they're not reciprocating the same love he showed them. Hence why he's obsessively hateful towards them.

He's like a guy who's angry at his father for abandoning him while he's young. Totally bitter and jaded.

I have also bullied an arab kid named Mohammad in my class we used to tease him and call him terrorist and when everyone was in the class sometimes we use to say everyone get down Mohammad has a bomb. Everyone would freak out but it was all fun and games.
