There is a difference in culture even in Muslim countries, Afghanis are unlike any other Muslim people. If Engineering and Agriculture were not held in low esteem and considered non-suitable to women in Afghanistan, surely the Taliban would've not written that in their apologetic tweet.

Taliban's statement on why they temporarily banned higher education for women:

1. Women are living far away from their homes without Mahram (male family members) which is Haram

2. Most students were not observing the Hijab as is mandatory in our religion

3. The root of corruption is free-mixing, and sadly this has not been fixed

4. Some fields are not appropriate for the status of the woman, because they are much higher than that, like farming and engineering

Future plans and the reforms they will introduce

-We are vigorously working on making a curriculum that adheres to the Quran and Sunnah.
-We are not against teaching nor are we against Afghans nor are we against women.
-This decision was made to uphold the value and dignity of our women.
-We will begin teaching women in light of the Sharī‘ah and within its boundaries.

Exactly. Also, most Afghan men agree with the Taliban and their rule, the whole narrative of the citizens being held hostage as Taliban subsumed the country was bullshit. Men would rather starve and live a shitty life if they can still keep their boots on womens necks. It is what it is.

The problem is 90% of the taliban are pashtuns. Tajiks who are the persian speakers are more open minded. They speak the same language as Iranians and the can read. But the less literate pashtuns are more backwards.
