Aweer people are mixture of cushitic and khoisan inter breeding.

Aweer/Boni are regular Somali mixed with Bantu mostly. There is no Khoisan ancestry in the Horn.

i think bajuni are similar to barwanis but more diverse

Bajunis are much more Sub-Saharan African than the Barwanis/Bravanese who are more Eurasian.

By the way, unlike the Aweer/Boni, the Bajuni are not related to Somalis at all. They are simply an extension of Kenya's Swahili population living inside Somalia's border. Their African ancestry is mostly Niger-Congo.

The aweer/boni are Hunter gatherers right? Isn’t that heavily looked down on in somali traditions so wouldn’t that make them a cast? Also are bravanese people somalis mixed with Eurasian or bantus mixed with eurasian?

Bajunis have different clans. Some of then claim to be part somali, part arab and part bantu. In general bajunis aren't 100% bantu but they have different origins.
Aweer Booni peoole on the other hand are pre-cushitic populations who adopted a somali dialect, they may be related to ancient hunter gatherers

Bravanese are : ethnic somali+Swahili+arab+southasian+ persian.
It depends on the families, there are some bravanese people who are more ethnically somali and some others who are more mixed

The wakatwa section of the bajuni people claims to have somali ancestry. They are probably more mixed than the average swahili

So they are heavily mixed. More Somali or swahili or arab?

More arab than the regular kenyan swahili muslim. You can see some of them can easily pass as Somalis. When it comes to their alleged somali ancestry I'm not sure if it's true but I read the mixed with the garre somali tribe

Wallahi I don’t know much about them, your best bet would be someone like.

The Aweer/Boni are not pure horn of Africans far from it actually. They are mixed with Bantus.

42.9% E3a or E1b1a-M2

The aweer/boni and the eyle are autosomally mixed with Somali Bantus and ethnic Somalis.

is there any genetic proof to say that boni/aweer are remnants of a group similar to khoisans who lived in northeast Africa. I always believed that they were just a mix of bantu and Cushitic ancestry.

To be more specific, they are the result of Tunni Raxanaweyn people mixing with various Indian Ocean immigrants. That is essentially how most of the southern ports got founded if you look at their origin myths. It's always a story about how there were local (Somaloid) people who came to the coast from the inland, intermarried with the first settlers and founded the settlement as a result.

The settlers in turn brought new architecture and technology while the Somalis whom they mixed and become linguistically shifted by were the food base both in terms of produce from the hinterland and livestock that we know were wondering even within the confines of these towns back in 1331 when Battuta visited Xamar and mentions that the there are camels and sheep slaughtered within it the city and how the ruler is a "Barbara", a dark-skinned people who herd camels and sheep living from Saylac down to Xamar, while the most prominent Judge of the city was an Egyptian.

In Barawe the Somali base were Tunnis, in Marka it seems it was originally Hawiyes and in Xamar it was probably some form of Maay folk originally. The settlers based on the DNA results of Reer Xamars and Reer Barawe were an amalgamation of Indians, Arabs, Iranians, Central Asians and some Swahili folk.

The ports were not the result of immigrants. The origin of these cities actually dates back much further. Periplus of the Erythraean Sea, a Greek travel document dating from the first century AD records commercial ports on the Somali littoral. The document notes they were already functioning city-states and how they established trade networks with communities across the Indian Ocean.

The ancient city of Sarapion is believed to have been the predecessor state of Mogadishu and the city of Essina is believed to have been the predecessor state of Merca.

Barawa was founded by Aw Ali who was a Tunni saint way before the arrival of immigrants.

Mogadishu along with Zeila and other Somali coastal cities was founded upon an indigenous network involving hinterland trade and that happened even before significant Arab migrations or trade with the Somali coast. That goes back approximately four thousand years and are supported by archaeological and textual evidences.

I'm aware, walaal. Just pointing out that the ports, as they were during the Middle-Ages, got that way through a intermingling between immigrants and local people. It does seem apparent that port-towns by the locals were there even before contact with any immigrant groups. This was an absolute given in the north given the archaeology there and the accounts we have from groups like the Greeks but it seems more recent inquiries are starting to imply this was so in the south too.
