They absolutely are. You even admitted they chimped out, obviously because they never had any plans after overthrowing Barre.
I wouldn't care about Barre being ran out if the USC and later warlords didn't constantly make Somalia a living hell but here we are. Of course Barre will somehow get blamed for events in the late 90s and even today despite the man dying in 1995.
Barre ruled with a narrow base that couldn't support the kind of military regime he was trying to enforce especially in *cough* Somaliland. People very unused to fascistic dictatorship which the Italian Somalilander had a history of. You could argue the union destroyed Italian Somaliland and I think objective evidence bears that out.
In the end he was defeated by unorganized militias in the south because he exhausted himself in Somaliland.

I like Isaaqs. Sometimes when there is nothing on Comedy Central I check in on them for a good laugh. They rarely disappoint.

Then some disgruntled Marxists mad that he cut ties with the USSR proceeded to run to Ethiopia and attack the country by funding insurgencies. However Barre was constantly defeating them until 1991.
