Tbh cadaans shouldn't be going to SL unless they have local guide and security guards and are on official business or were invited by stakeholders in the SL govt. In Hargeisa they will be safe because there are compounds for westerners but outside capital it is possible they could be robbed or kidnapped.

I agree with the FCO advisory against non-essential travel. @Bohol The key to note is aside from Hargeisa and Berbera the rest of Somalia UK citizens have been advised to avoid all travel which is probably appropriate as well.

You are right. But tbh I sincerely doubt the average Brit knows the difference between Somaliland and Somalia. Legally its the same country so the UK govt making the distinction on travel is important for potential foreign travellers. The fact of the matter is that rural SL is safe for you or me because we got tribes to protect us. Cadaans don't got that same luxury.
