But the idea that he was planning to implement or implemented a communist government in South Africa was a fallacy painted by the National Party in order to maintain global support for apartheid.

I'm open to a discussion on the subject but I don't believe people just become best buddies with Fidel Castro for no reason. Look at the relationship between Ethiopia and Cuba.
If you make a deal with the devil, will the devil not expect some concessions from you in return? Fidel is like the devil. He really does offer some things but there is no way that he is giving his assistance without anything in exchange.
