The Ethiopian defense minister( an Afar woman) said all Afar territory(in Djibouti and Eritrea) is Ethiopian. She even claimed port Sudan city as Ethiopian  and all that land will one day come back to Ethiopia kulaha. Her speech was in 4th Februrary just a month ago.

We don’t support TPLF nor do we fight them

I'm a bit ignorant on the history, why don't the two groups ally much or even seem to like each other? Aren't Biher-Tigrinya and Tigray-Tigrinya basically the same people? It's like Galbeed Somalis and coastal Somalis, no? Same language, same religion over an even smaller area than Somaliweyn... why is there a political disconnect?

Eritreans and Tigrayans aren’t the same species, let alone the same people

I had a good friend of Biher-Tigrinya descent for many years from about a decade ago now who essentially saw Tigray-Tigrinyas as the same people as his people. I mean it's the exact same language and they actually form a tight-ish genetic cluster almost the way Somalis do, from what I recall. They're genetically a real ethnicity unlike Amharas and Oromos who are an amalgam of different Cushitic and Ethiosemitic people who've been made to adopt either Amharic or Oromo as their mother tongue via various means. Ethnically speaking it really is like Galbeed Somalis and Somalis in Somalia.

So yes, I'm confused as to why they have such a strong political disconnect as I'm not privy to their early modern history all that much. Never did any reading on it, to be frank.

Tigrayans and Tigrinya aren’t the same people. It isn’t even close to Western Somalia, they haven’t been part of the same state for 800 years.

As for language that means nothing. Swedes and Norwegians are mutually intelligible. They don’t see each other as the same

? They were both literally ruled by the same dynasty less than 200 years ago:

He ruled over both Eritrean and Tigrayan Tigrinyas. 800 years? Where did you get that? My general sense has always been that they were basically the same people until the Italians came in and caused a division where Tigrayan-Tigrinyas remained within the Solomonic dominion and Eritrean/Biher-Tigrinyas became part of the Italian colonial rule and overtime the two groups diverged.

I'm not that ignorant on their history. I just haven't kept up much with what went on between 1900 to now but before that I am pretty aware and these are the same people, saaxiib. So I'm surprised that division has remained so much and persists today cos this is seriously just the same language and people at the core of it, walaal.
