The Harari's were united with the Isahakia through the ottoman empire and the Egyptian khedivate up until the British came in the north and the Ethiopian empire expanded.
Harar was nothing but a small and useless town that would get invaded by gallas who lived on the west and north by the 19th century, when the egyptians came they forced the oromos to become muslim.

I don't know that much about the harari people, but they're not native to the town of harari and are most likely recent semitic arrivals from massawa. They're not habeshas either.

I agree. I don't think they're native to Harar. They're originally Highlanders that migrated to that land....and they look very similar to their Jeberti and Tigre Semitic counterparts.
