The guy wants to impose tariffs on the 2nd and 3rd supplies of goods on Canada and Mexico, the guy seems he doens't care about the voters, especially the poor ones, or the economy.

Canada is the largest market for the US. And supplier for essential goods

To me, if that happened, it gonna be a good lesson for the MAGA and dumb lower class republicans who vote against their economic interests

It’s like Brexit all over again. The masses do not learn since this is psychological engineering that has been taking place for decades. Before brexit for instance, newspapers have been demonizing asylum seekers for years, hence all any smart but exploitative politician had to do is weaponize that. Being a politician that can sway the masses is easy if you’re able to tap into these talking points. Here is the quick guide as to how:

1. Find a boogeyman, usually immigrants will do, promise to lower costs and blame immigration and immigrants for the increase in cost of living. A common ‘otherised’ enemy unites all and can make the working class forget about their class struggle and specific needs.

2. Insinuate that you’ll be putting the natives or in the case of America the conquerors (the cadaans) first. Create the impression that the cadaans are the underclass and that you’ll fight for their right to take back what’s there’s. Voting for you, is equivalent to taking back their land from these pesky foreigners

3. Be sympathetic and make them feel like the victims being hard done by foreigners and the establishment even though as a wealthy politician, you are literally the establishment and a billionaire to boot.

4. Use nostalgia of the good old days to get them excited about life under you and your party. Project images of 1950s UK or America showing a white majority leafy green picturesque rural town of smiling and happy white families unburdened by financial worry or foreigners.

5. Emphasis on American and European culture, talk about the feats of fathers of old. Hark back to the might of the empire, talk about family values and how white men too have become victims of women’s new found rights and that by voting for you, the old system of a white and male elite will be back! But jokes on them, white male elites is what America is still built upon, but working class men haven’t figured out that they’re barred because well…they’re poor. It isn’t their race or gender, it’s their class, but you’ll play along and make them feel as though they’re victims for being white! They’ll buy into the idea of you too are a victim since you’re white and male and can understand them, despite being a Billionaire!

6. Use your R-word case as a perfect example of how America and the Western world are fighting against white men and are trying to silence you. Your court case is actually an aid in your popularity since it’s a marker that you too are being penalized by the establishment.

Talk about how those in powers don’t care about them, even though you don’t care about them as well nor can you relate to them.

As for the working class ‘learning’, they never will. Racism, ‘the others’ and the idea of victimhood due to foriegners is a toxic mix. Most of them will never connect the dots and understand that people like Trump, the elite billionaire class are indeed the ones who are the cause of many of their issues. That’s because most working class and middle class Americans think of themselves as aspiring millionaires/billionaires. They think they can identify with Trump lol.

america is an anomaly in western democracy. the two parties actually have major and stark differences compared to the uk. mainly in domestic and identity politics. but at the end of the day both american parties are run by rich crooks. america can be described as an oligarchy.
