I have helped at the best of my ability every Somali that have asked me for help. Even when they didnt i helped.

I remember one winter on the busstop an older Somali lady carrying 10 kg rice. The bus didnt come so we had to walk. I saw she needed help offered to carry it, and she accepted. Almost 1km of walk, minus 5 Celsius, and a small handle that was cutting in to my fingers i was thinking to myself why did i offer my help but then i remembered its for ajar, and better me then her.

You wouldnt know of these if i didnt tell you about it, and im sure everyone one of us have done good deeds that no one knows of. Its not like we go around and advertise whatever good we do☺

It’s not only Muslim countries that are corrupt. Most of sub-Sahara Africa and parts of Asia are the same, and they can be Muslim, Christian or Pagan. Hell Europe was the same, not so long ago.

So the issue isn’t religion, it’s human nature, and countries that can enforce the law vs countries that cannot.

In lieu of a functioning govt we’ve reverted to xeer law which is intertwined with Islamic culture. But the issue with that is - it’s still not fully enforced- so it relies on peoples good nature to step forward and take moral responsibility. But not everyone is equally ( or at all) morally responsible.

Why is that gaalo or people who follow no religion have a lot more naxariis and better akhlaaq than us a lot of the times?

One time in Hargeisa, I was at one of the hospitals and this heavily pregnant woman collapsed right in front a bunch of people, a lot of men (one was a fake medical lab tech) and so I went to help her get up and I was horrified at how many people just stood there and watched

when I was in Hargeisa inside the masjid this elderly man stood up he said he needs money for food people went up to him and dropped couple shillings in front of him

I had 50 bucks on me at the time so I figured he could use it more than me i went up to him reached out my hand greeted him and introduced myself than I gave him the money and he was happy kept hugging and kissing my shoulder

Heres the thing as im about to leave the masjid this adeer taps me on the back and points at the elder man asks if I knew him I told him no never met him before and he asks why would you give a stranger 50$

Its hard to believe that they have "a lot of naxaris" when they have alot of homeless people whos relatives are still alive, and are able to help.

Why r we treated diffrent then

Somalis are not very different from other Horn people in this respect. The "Beta Israel" who are not really real Jews either suffered a similar fate in Ethiopia because they were an artisanal group. Basically, in the eyes of old traditional Horner culture if you are not a food-producer (like a farmer or pastoralist), your line of work is seen as "unclean" and "impure" and your group are usually treated like outcastes and not married by the rest of the population. Blacksmiths, tanners, stonemasons, soothsayers and "magicians"... the list goes on.

Madhiban, Yibirs and the Tumaal are such examples among the Somali people and you find very similar castes among Amharas, Tigrays, Oromos and even Omotics like the Ari which is why if you look up genetic samples on the Ari there are "Ari Cultivator" and "Ari Blacksmith" samples with a slight genetic difference between the two due to endogamy.

It's very sad because these same people are usually responsible for some of the most beautiful parts of our cultures. I mean look at these:

Hmm, firstly I think not everyone in wealthy countries is nice or generous. Secondly, by your logic there should be a gradient of niceness based on wealth and living a sheltered life. But some rich and sheltered people are completely devoid of compassion and some poorer people who have seen struggle are kind and giving.

I guess what you meant is not seeing so much struggle and trauma that a person becomes desensitised to it. To that, I partially agree, being exposed to extreme trauma can make some people more emotionally detached and less soft hearted. But that’s not really an issue for the SL population, who have peace in their region.

Also, I wouldn’t go as far as to call richer countries as being nicer, or more generous. They are able to enjoy peace and avoid the trauma of war because they export all their violence to poorer countries - which they also loot. So their frequent charity bake sale is a drop in the ocean compared to how much they take. But compare this to the ‘charity’ of Somalis/Africans who send money back home despite having little themselves. Different levels of generosity.
