Visiting Las Anod/Burco

I think I have to visit Somalia soon it's really tempting my family in Las Anod and Burco keeps asking me when I am going to visit them. It will be the first time in 19 years....

Those cities has developed a lot since I lived there as a child in the 1990s. Las Anod in the 90s was just a village, Burco is the city of my best childhood memories the city with its play toy shops.

You should definetly go, i visited my family in bosaso and gaalkacyo 2 years ago. Even tho i was only there for 2 weeks and chaperoned the whole time, it was still a great experience.

Just brace yourself for the culture shock you might get.

When i was there it was around 30 degrees celsius in day time and much cooler at night time.

Not just the beautiful sandy beaches but the springs as well. You should definetly ask someone to drive you up there from las caanod, the hot springs are just amazing. Especially going there at night time.

What?! I was in Burco back in December for 1 week, and people could easily take a 5 hours bus ride to Hargeisa... Also the place looks fine

I didn't like Burco that much tbh. There were zero good restaurants there. Had to force myself to eat the food there... Though the city looked better than Hargeisa imo. Hargeisa is one main road with buildings on either side. Burco though only has roads around the city, meaning inside it's more lively and stuffed with buildings.

Burcaawi people has been discriminated against rest of Isaaq and no development in their region while there were first who started SNM revolution, HJ are softy and HY. No transportation, no Hospitals. igatag dheh. Meel ma aha.

Majority people who live in Dadab are isaaq who came to stay there from 88 up to date. You don't know your history waraabe. aabo weydii he will tell you more.

Nope, dadaab refugee camp is 100% darod. No one else lives there. isaaq don't even know what dadaab is, why would they be refugees in somalia Kenya border when they live in Somaliland

Its not all Darod actually all clans are there like it or not but.minority clans are overrepresented.

That refugee camp was called Utanga and it existed from 1991-1993, Utanga was located in a lush farm area outside Mombassa deep inside Kenya. For those who had fled Mogadishu and Kismayio in 1991.
