You're going to be met with a lot of resistance. Gun ownership=protection in the Somali psyche. Instead of trigerring more bloodshed, it would be wise to keep gun ownership legal but with adequate regulation.

I am of course presupposing a massive propaganda effort aimed at riding civilians of their arms.

I meant that assuming everyone will reasonable. The overwhelming majority of gun owners are for a fact responsible owners. The only reason many laws are in place is specifically because of the worst in society. I don't think there's anything wrong with gun ranges (there's quite a few in the UK). But I'd vote against private gun ownership in the UK.

Was it difficult obtaining one? I want to get one here but it's quite a difficult process.

So you want to get a gun, but your hesitant on going to a range? I'm sure once you try shooting some guns you'll like em.

I just completed a test and filled out some forms. 3 weeks later I got my card. If anything, this license makes me follow all the laws very carefully even more so now because licensed gun owners are subject to daily criminal/background checks

One of the main reasons Somaliland didn't descend into anarchy like Somalia was that the clan militias voluntarily gave up their weapons to the government.

Once the government can ensure adequate security for the population we can talk about private gun ownership. Until then all weapons must be confiscated by the authorities.

I personally believe every human who is sane and responsible should own a gun. In the United States, majority of the legal gun owners are responsible. The murder rate in the United States is high due gang violence. However, in Somalia, I'm ignorant on the culture and mental health status to make a comment on that or anywhere similar.

Im not entirely sure but as you'd expect, the laws aren't enforced. However, i think you still need a license to own a gun and automatic rifles aren't permitted.
:hmm:
idk about the rest of somalia but when my uncle went puntland his friend made him and his son strap up because it was dangerous to be walking around without protection. it was the same on mogadishu. but this was many years ago. I'm sure the mentality hasn't changed in the south though

i clicked no by accident. ye guns should be BANNED ins Somalia. these niggas are savages and they'll use any clan related excuse to kill someone. having a deadly weapon around makes that much easier.
