Race is a social construct meaning "an idea that has been created and accepted by the people in a society". Somalis do not see themselves as black therefore do not accept such labels. A Somali who knows who they are will tell you that they are Somali not black. Somalis have only began to accept such labels in the last 25 years. Why do you think there are constant debates about whether Somalis are black or not? If we looked West African or Bantu, do you think anyone would be having these discussions and questioning whether we are black or not? Why do you think we look different and our phenotypes are so different compared to those with West African and bantu origins? Features are entirely different from other Sub Saharans, Somali vary in skin tone but majority are dark skinned. The reason why Somali want to separate themselves from other groups is to keep our ethnicity. Race doesn't make sense, it's an inconsistent ideology that slave trading white people made up, changed along the way, and never put much thought into making it make sense.

It's okay to, but I hate when people try to defend the racial system imposed on us like we should blindly obey what some filthy race system created by senile old bums.

What you posted is not a good argument for why we're black. I could say the same thing and flip it. If being black is determined by skin shade, then why aren't darkskin Indians and south east Asians black? Like this young man who's darker than me, why isn't he black?
