Personally, I don't argue against someone calling me black when I live in the U.S. I mean, we're like a few hundred thousand up against hundreds of millions and centuries of this ideology being ingrained into their society. We can't verbally stand up to what they believe whilst also living in their lands.

I'm whatever they see me as here, but when I go to the HOA, I know what's up.

The only thing I dislike about the black label is when they add us to it AND generalize about black people. e.g ("Islam and Christianity are foreign to BLACK people"; "C'mon, it doesn't matter if I'm not Muslim, you need to let us marry your women because at the end of the day, we're all BLACK") both of these I've heard multiple times.

They need to realize that 1.5 billion people aren't a monolith. There's no black unity and I don't owe you shit for being black.

This is why I say that race is an incomplete, pseudo-scientific classification system created by senile, slavers with no foresight. Sure, it might have worked for their time, but when scrutinized, it doesn't hold up as logically consistent. Examples here:

The two most common ways to define black people:

1.) Black people are people of darksin, native to sub-saharan Africa

Inconsistency: Aborginals who are referred to as blacks and literally call themselves black people. They live in Australia and they're not native to Sub-Saharan Africa.

2.) Black people are people with "black/darkskin"

Inconsistency: How do you reconcile the fact that there are darkskin people that live in the Indian Subcontinent and South East Asia that are darker than, let's say, African Americans (who have mixtures of white and black blood in them).

And, even the term "white" has been changed a lot in history (even modern history) to adjust to different realities. (e.g Irish, Jews, and Italians were not considered white prior to the early 20th century, that designation was reserved for WASP's and Germanic peoples)

It looks dumb when people try to defend something that's illogical - and it's even worse when you add in the fact that what they're defending is a racist, vile system that was solely to designed to justify subjugating and oppressing everyone except whites.

Look, at the end of the day, I think people should be able to indentify how they want, it's extremely irritating that shit has to be forced onto people. My ancestors didn't call themselves Black and I don't want to. My identity does not revolve around what Europeans think of me and I feel no connection to most "Black" people, I can't even relate to them a lot of the time.

Again, you can be Black if you want, but I hate that people are pressured into accepting this.

This is such a stupid debate to have. Why do you worry about Somali's being "black"? Black is a term created by the white man to group people with that color of skin together, without recognizing that Africa has a variety of different cultures and people.

I consider myself someone that has a black skin, my mother however is literally fullblooded Somali but she looks like she's Arab. Very lightskin, so do you consider her "black" as well?

The reason why people struggle with this debate is because everyone seems to have a different definition of black. Some say black is somebody with the black skin color. Others say black people are those who's ancestors used to be the slaves of Americans.

The reason why people don't like to be called "black" is the same reason why people hate when cadaans see Africa as a single country. Yes I'm black because my skin color is but aside from that what do I have in common with an African American? Nothing, my culture is different, my deen is different. My whole identity is different from theirs.

So when you say black, tell me what your definition is of it. And explain to me why you so badly want to be grouped into that category by cadaan people instead of them recognizing your culture and country.
