This shows massive investment needed to get market share. Berbera has a corridor and is working to win over market share but it’s tough hill. Then you also have Asab port in Eritrea which used to be there main port. If Eritrea and Ethiopia make up can easily go back to main one. Ports in benadir mudug or lower Jubba tough because the infrastructure not there and so far away from Adis which is heart of Ethiopia. Abiy is flexing his muscles and wants place for navy and guaranteed sea access. Maybe awdal is only place I can think of that’s possibility. Ethiopia probably would want to build scratch for their navy port. Anyways I doubt any of this will have any real impact next couple years. Feels like power trip to me. Neither side can really build infrastructure right now both broke as hell

Probably long shot but you never know they already have permanent bases in our border lands. I think only place is possible is awdal not heavily armed and is stable region, maybe they get win win with port and investments. Rest of Somalia to crazy with way to many weapons and fighting groups

I’m serious HSM pretty much said it’s puntland or somaliland where Ethiopia getting port it’s done deal

Def not PL sxb, it’ll be very close to Djibouti most likely. That is close to where Ethiopia had their old Red Sea base in present day Eritrea.

Ethiopia would have tried Eritrea already, or Somalia's ports if you can run a business in a war zone. Can't be done.

Yeah and that's not available obviously lol. SL authorities won't accept it and they can't build and manage a port in a war zone, they can't protect all that stretch of road or even the port itself. They can only do it with friendly authorities who maintian security. Like I dont even know how people think that would work.

It’s also logistically much more feasible since it’s closer and there isn’t shabab there. I don’t even think Indian Ocean is feasible.
