How can one be a somalilander and yet be a Somali..

If you said isaaq instead of somalilander it would have made sense..just because something has been recycled so many times it doesn't make it right...same thing goes for the term SOMALIAN ...there is no such thing as SOMALIAN nor SOMALILANDER
We are Somalilanders but ethnically Somali.

Perhaps you should ask those who started the thread? I'm only reinforcing what they said.

South Korea and North Korea have changed ethnically, whether it's physical features, language or genetics since the Korean war. On the ground there are many difference emerging you're already able to differentiate between Landers and Malis. There is no such thing as Somali anymore, there are Somalis. This diversity should be celebrated not minimised.

So couple of days ago, this geezer was sitting next to me on the train, his phone rang and he answered in qowhdan lahjad.. nearly fell of my seat wondering how this indo-asian dude learned somali... war ilayn aniga wax ogayn mahee..ninku wuxuu ahaa reer burca ee his physical appearance changed due to the somalilandernimada ...

I also find them weird, its almost like they want to stand out, be unique among somalis and the effort its visible to everyone.

I remember when i was younger and an avid Somaliland supporter. Had no reasons to why i supported independence apart from the fact that my parents told me to. Only when i became older and actually researched Somali history did i stop supporting the idea of Somaliland seceding. A large percentage of those who support Somaliland only do so because they try to emulate someone they respect.
