Why do a majority of unskilled ethnic women refuse to work when unskilled Ethiopian women do in the West?

I used to work with a lot of Ethiopian women while I was in school. I noticed how the majority of them work in the West even if the wages are low. Even while still going to school they work minimum wage jobs. The few ethnic women I noticed don’t like doing minimum wage jobs even if they are unskilled. Majority of the Ethiopians own homes in Toronto while ethnic women are stuck in public housing. Why do ethnic women refuse to work while Ethiopian women work ?

Even the professional ethnic women don’t want to work after a couple of years after marriage. Why are Ethiopian women more hardworking? I don’t get it at all.

How can a Christian Amhara be more hardworking than a Muslim? I’ve even seen pregnant Ethiopian women hard at work in Toronto.

That’s rubbish in London the majority of all the unskilled jobs or menial jobs are done by immigrants I rarely ever see a white English women doing cleaning jobs, and if they do it’s only the old mentally slow ones do it

Could be a tribal thing.
In my family, we all work, even if it's a minimum wage job.
Somalis have had a long tradition of hating on minimum wage jobs, deemed as "useless".
Back home, only the Oromos do the low-paying jobs.


It's must a nomadic false sense of arrogance, of "I can do better than that".
I'm just speculating from my own experiences; whenever I talk about having a new job, my mother's reaction is as funny as it can be Somali: she immediately says that "you shouldn't be working like this, find a better job!" as if climbing the social ladder was a matter of finding an immediate job, without spending years of networking, trying and failing!


Your post is correct, at least in my opinion. I remember as refugees back then, we would have a charity (that my mom and I, we founded), and all the Somalis were welcome to help. But most of them, despite being just less than a handful of people, they were arguing, divided and not willing to "integrate"; to find a job and a suitable situation.

As a people, we need cut out the delusion, the posts above mine are just people trying to cover up this reality; Ethiopians are more hardworking and trustworthy than Somalis.
