I just know my mother and my family, but in Luxembourg i knew some landers and that's it..But i was muslim in that time!
Now, nobody knows that i'm an atheist haha

nah you good, you dont need to learn somali.. for what would you tho?

aint nobody going to accept you anyway..

You cant compare somali with turkish community

They got turkish tv shows and what do we have hindi films dubbed to somali

My Turkish friend back in college used to watch Turkish shows during our lunch break and listen to Turkish pop. How can she lose her language when she is constantly engaging with it? This is why we need our own media, to teach the younger generation their language. Just look at how many people around the world can speak and understand Korean simply because they watch K-Dramas.

If you are from a minority group in a predominately white country, and it only makes life harder than it has to be its understandable to fall into self hate. It's not right and honestly a sickness, but it's understandable.

Exactly somali tv stations is 99% politics the rest is commercials they very rarely show tv shows in somali just watching somali tv is Boring they should have more tv stations with more variety

You cant really blame somali kids who dont speak it so well what I find odd is when a somali parent says an unfamiliar word in somali and when the kid dont understand it they get irritated some even mock the kid

I see that a lot. Somali parents blame their kids for their lack in knowledge in Somali and it really dissuades the kids from speaking Somali more often. You can’t just learn a language through talking alone; you need to engage with it through media and experience the language being used in daily life in countries where it is spoken. I wish Somalia had more variety in tv shows, especially shows that would appeal to young audiences. My Turkish neighbours have Cartoon Network in the Turkish language, so they watch all the shows my own siblings watch but in their native language.
