Lol, I see some excuses being made just so that you don't have to give Ethiopia credit. As for us getting benefits for being Christian, I think that is cancelled out by your last sentence; the fact that we're surrounded by people who would try to convert us (kill or be killed)...do you know how threatening that is? I think the support was well deserved. As for European reluctance, I'd call that making the most of the situation and taking advantage of cards one is dealt with. Finally, the italy thing...it was a mutual interest for us to be allies(benefits us and other European powers, although they weren't even much of a help).
