Somali culture from a hundred years ago is largely lost. Yes, we've preserved a fair amount but a lot has been lost. So many little customs, attires, crafts (even big ones like traditional boat building) are just gone. Casualties of 30 years of hell. Either sponsor some sort of revival or learn to live with it.

Every time I see a Farax wear a macawiis...especially to a traditional event... I die a little more inside.

It is extremely horrendous looking and not our culture. Somali male traditional clothing looks way more regal and pleasing to the eye.
