Why older Somali men so secretive about their second wife?

What he did is 100% wrong and haram. Yes, islam allows up to 4 wives but Allah swt discourages the practice at the same time also: "But if you feel you many not be able to deal justly between them, then marry only one."
In the case of polygamy many forget that the first wife has rights to. If the first wife doesn't like the idea of sharing her husband with multiple women or be part of such relationship, then she has the option to demand divorce for example.
The fact that this guy married a 2nd wife, all while not telling his 1st wife is not only morally wrong but haram as well. Because he has infringed on his 1st wife's rights - what if she doesn't wish to be in a polygamous relationship?

Not only broke men do it. I've seen a lot of rich cadaan men do this to their wives and a couple of rich middle eastern guys do it too. But its rare though.

It becomes haram when you don't provide fairly to your wives financially and also other aspects. Its says in the quran marry one if you can't provide for more than one. Those men are playing with human souls. Imagine how grave such a sin is on the day of judgement.
