What would a Somalia under Chinese influence even look like? Chinese are cheap as f*ck and will never fund the Somali government and AU the way the Americans/Europeans do.
China is already one of the largest donors of foreign aid in the world and Somalia is located in a highly strategic region so that would be a good reason for them to be interested in it. They already have a base in Djibouti after all.
America would just be shooting itself in the foot by allowing Somalia to fall under Chinese influence in a region that already has a BRICS member.

If the West stopped funding Somalia, Somalia would go back to 1994-2002 when there was barely anyone on Earth who gave a shit about the country.
The idea that African countries can just switch from depending on the U.S. to relying on China isn't realistic. China doesn't care that much about Africa. Look at the Congo, their number 3 biggest trading partner, and China isn't doing shit to stop Rwanda. That's why the president of Congo is begging Trump for help.
