Would you leave your fiancé(e) if they become disabled?

A few years ago, there was this young couple who lived near me that were set to get married soon. Sadly, the girl was in a really bad car crash two months or so before the wedding and could no longer walk, so now she’s confined to a wheelchair. As soon as that happened, the guy she was gonna marry ditched her. I thought that was super sad cause apparently they’ve been together for years and years.

Some of the older people were saying they understand cause the girl wouldn’t be able to have children, but nobody knows that for sure anyways. I didn’t think it was excusable and I thought it was honestly really vile, but who knows what that’s like. It was just sad all around. Would you guys leave someone you’re about to marry if they suddenly become disabled? (I would not)

I'll completely real with you: I do not know.

I would like to say that I would stick by my partner for however long it takes and not leave them behind due to something of Allah's will.

However, I cannot be 100% sure until I am in such a situation and I do not want to wish that on my (or anyone's) future partner.

Yes Allah forbid such a thing happens. It is a bit nuanced i agree with you but the guilt of leaving someone I love helpless would eat away at me.

I completely agree but you don't know. Sometimes people become nasty after terrible things happen to them. They become difficult to deal with. You need a lot of sabr to put up with it.

I am not disparaging handicapped people but sometimes people become angry after being left handicapped and every person has their tolerance.

Yes you can have children while paralyzed, my neighbour was pregnant and she’s in a wheelchair, her daughter is healthy Alhamdullilah and so cute. Some people who are paralyzed are not able to have children but a good number of them are able to.

I’m assuming that we were "dating " before getting engage, then I’ll probably stay with her but if she can produce eggs or get pregnant then I’m 100% staying with her.

yea I assume the women can have children seeing how having leg paralysis shouldn't affect getting pregnant or giving birth

If I put an insurance with the mehr. I can get reimbursed. I will marry her sister instead as a compensation
