I would assume that because Abdi is an Atheist, it would make sense for him to marry a non-believing Somali woman or even a non-Muslim Ethiopian or Eritrean girl.

But no, he wants to marry a devout Muslim girl from a tiny village in Somalia. A woman who doesn't share the same values as him.

Reformed thugs, most likely. I know a few like these myself. Don't get me wrong, I have a great deal of respect for these people and what they have overcome, but in many ways they still have retained much of the mannerisms from back in their law-breaking days.

No Somali man who makes a decent income and has acceptable social skills should have any problem finding himself a wife. No problem whatsoever.

It's not enough to find just "a wife". It's about finding someone whom you are compatible with and doesn't have a reputation around the city. No one wants to be known for being married to the local that all of the thugs and wastemans in the city ran through. That's the hard part, and most of the guys I know who fit that description opted to marrying ajnabis or from back home instead.

Even I had several older Somali women shukaansi me when I was only 20 years old and still in school. I've had Somali fathers approach me in the Masjid and ask me to marry their daughter---in all seriousness.

Somali women who were raised in Somalia and men offering their daughters to you, who themselves would likely not be interested, proves your point how, exactly?

So what are you even talking about? Finding a wife in Canada is so unbelievably easy, you could easily ask your parents or uncles to hook you up with someone.

My three criteria for a Somali girl for marriage are: good looks, religious, does something with her life (goes to uni and/or has job). It's damn near impossible to find one like that nowadays where I'm at.

If she looks good 50% chance off top she's a hoe or talks to every nigga.
If she's religious she either doesn't look good, or does nothing but go to dugsi and can't read
If she's in uni and/or has a job there's a 33% chance she's one of them intersectional feminazis (and a hoe) or she doesn't look good.

The rare ones that have all three don't live anywhere near me. I'm only now starting to look around for prospects but it doesn't look good at the moment. I'm gonna have to start asking relatives in other cities if they know of any prospects or start drafting girls from Somalia.

You sound like an incredibly naive and young man. I'll let you in on a secret: those many beautiful and available women would not be interested in someone like AJ. An established, middle-class, law-abiding average Joe like AJ doesn't tickle most of their fancies.
