My dad speaks Af Maay, I can understand it but my speech is below average.

It's called Maay because legend has it Somalis rejected it as a language. Somali speakers are called Maxaa tiri. They have less loan words that some say they're original Somali speakers.

True. Most live in USA or Australia. But you will find other qabiils who speak Af Maay too because they live among them. I have come across quite a few Mareexaans ,Hawaadles, iyo those from Jubbaland who speak Af Maay.

Yes, I am. Apart from my own family and my dad's friends I don't know any either lol. I'm not sure I count as a speaker..unfortunately my dad spoke Af Maxa Tiri to us.

It's interesting that you guys have retained some of the old cushitic words like 'af'. I'm not surprised that 'may' would mean water similar to 'maa' in Arabic, since both languages are Semitic.
