I praise HSM for removing the Burundis from Middle Shabelle in his first 18 months. Poorest country in Africa leaching of Somalia. They remained in their bases with no local contact compared to Ethiopia in Hiraan, Bay Bakool and Uganda in Lower Shabelle.

Supposedly America spends 1.2 billion a year in somalia.

They wanted 25% of mission to be covered by other funding mechanism. like somali govt, AU budget, other donors but somalia couldnt get that gap closed its alot of money for missions around 1.5 billion annually so 25% is a lot. 75% already paid for. I doubt international community will let mission funding fall through. One of the agencies will relocate money for missions missing 25%

I believe that they and their JNIM allies (in Western Africa) are both planning and preparing for a major offensive in late 2025- early 2026. They want to launch their attacks at the same time so that America becomes overstretched air-support wise, although Trump is probably going to pull out of Africa.

The increased fatalities are a direct result of the SNA going after khawaarij in 2022. Majority of the fatalities are from battle. Districts such as Adan Yabaal and Runirgood as well as the border between Middle Shabelle and Galgaduud came under Khawaarij control.

Farmaajos administration didn't liberate a single tuulo anywhere in Somalia and the army had no direct confrontation with al shabab the entirety of his term.

You also need to include massacres like Cowsweyne and others where SNA was decimated if you are going to try to say it’s due to fighting shabaab. In many instances with extremely high fatalities they were left in the middle of nowhere with no air support for seemingly no reason other than to get them killed.
