Awdal state welcomes Ethiopia to take over Zeila port

@Awdalite @Arkan Sxb you have got something to explain here, actually everyone who is willing to invest in awdal is welcome as long as they are abiding by thr international laws but the case is different here

Ethiopian PM unequivocally said they want a port to seize, if he actually wanted a port to invest or import things he already had many ports in many countries but he wants a port to annex so that they won't pay taxes to djibouti, kenya and eritrea.

So why the so called awdal movement distorting the reality and making things look like as if ethiopia want a place to invest, what do actually reer awdal would gain if ethiopia occupies awdal( tho impossible) other than millions of amhara and oromo pouring into your lands to outnumber you in a matter of 1 or 2 years?

Why do this AM consider this blatant existential threat as an economic opportunity when infact every other country whose port is mentioned get alarmed? Eritreans are all out responding to this provocation, so are eritreans dump to see this opportunity or is it our country that is up for sale?

Time to wake up awoow, abiy just want a port to annex, and if so no reer would get a penny out of it, just like ciise living around the rail road with no single ciise even get hired, so lets not invite foreigners into our lanďs or else we gonna be next Palestinians

Awdal State is just an internet movement created by the diaspora. Everyone will say anything to get some publicity. Having said that, the people in the region haven't seen any form of development. Every major funding goes to the Hargeisa - Berbera - Wajaale corridor which will effectively only benefit the community of the current SL President. When the Lughaya port project was initiated and the diaspora gathered money to build it, they took it to the Ministry in Hargeisa which ate the entire amount. This is all in recent memory. Most people want roads and infrastructure to be built. Nobody has any love for Ethiopia but if they're going to build a road from Borama to Djibouti and build infrastructure then at least it will economically.

Also, Somalis love to exaggerate. The video in question is only speaking about options and, quite a few were mentioned and not only Saylac. The port they want the most is Assab in Eritrea. So all in all, they're probably not coming for Saylac but the road initiative is real.

Dr Beyle, Ethiopia, the African Development Bank and Somaliland have all signed off the Lawyacado - Fardaha - Borama Road project. The Ministry of Transport and Road Development in Somaliland signed it off already and published a 178 page document detailing everything about the road.

"The above mentioned road project will be part of the strategic link between Ethiopia, and Djubouti. The road is expected to solve the prevailing nationwide transportation cost, transportation efficiency and serve as strategic link between Somaliland, Ethiopia and Djibouti. The Lowyaddo-Farddaha-Borama road project starts at Lowyaddo town, which is located in North East direction of part of the republic of Somaliland. The end point of the project is at the Borama town which is the capital of the state of the Awdal Region and it is located around 118 km West of Hargeissa within the Republic of Somaliland."

This road is partly being funded by Ethiopia and therefore will be their road to Saylac:

The route taken will be the biggest project ever undertaken on Gadabursi traditional territory. Ethiopia will definitely benefit and they will enjoy every privilege just like they do in Berbera.

Who is running the show on the ground?

Samaroon Ministers from Djibouti Somaliland and Ethiopia:

Mohamed Ahmed Awaleh -Djiboutian Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, & Fisheries (Samaroon)

Ahmed Buhane - Somaliland Minister of Planning and National Development (Samaroon)

Kamal Hashi - Ethiopian Federal Minister and Member of the Ethiopian House of Representatives for Araabi (Awbare, Harawo and Dambal - Samaroon)

What does this mean in real terms without all the politics? Win win. Ethiopia can get a port and the people can have a real economy going. Everyone wins.

Kamal Hashi is not an Ethiopian federal minister, if I’m not mistaken.

Awdal movement are traitors, eventually they wil end up with Dire Dawe status , there women will get raped or flee.

SL, Djibouti and Somalia all work with Ethiopia so what's the issue? They already have a huge stake in Berbera and Djibouti ports.

Also Abiy mentioned Djibouti in the video aswell as a potential port for Ethiopia so why are they only focusing on Saylac? Djibouti and Berbera are heavily used by Ethiopia.

Now that I’ve seen a more detailed summary of the documentary, it seem like Ethiopia is fine with those ports it already use today and aiming at increasing economic ties and infrastructure between neighboring countries to facilitate easier movement of goods from addition ports, from Kenya all the way to Eritrea/Sudan.

However, with regards to ‘safeguarding’ Ethiopia’s ‘rights’ to a seaport, Abiy was thinking more of getting ownership of a port in exchange for shares in GERD, Ethiopian Airlines or Ethio-Telecom etc.

Sxb I have never dismissed reer awdal genuine concerns regarding the lack of development in the awdal region and there are many people from beesha dhexe who are focal for reer awdal quest for proper power sharing

Also I am not against if reer awdal ever wanted additional authority over awdal region or even building awdal state aslong as the land belong to somalis

But you are missing somethings here sxb, somaliland isnt only wajale berbera corridor, and any other area apart from this tiny strip is actually less developed than awdal, there is no meaninful project anything east of hargeysa all the way to waqdariya or darwayne except the burco erigavo road, people even lack clean water inside hargeysa and burco which is the third largest city in somaliwayn has the worst infrastructure by far, they got two bridges I think, and one of them is called jidka siraad cuz you have got 50% chance of falling down from it😂 let alone airports, roads or whatever

So should we also consider inviting ethiopians as a better alternative cuz the hargeysa adminstration doest want us build our deegaans with our resources?

The other thing is people are ignoring here is, ethiopia wants port to annex, not necessarily zeylac, so the question is why are the other nations get alarmed and somalis disorting it as an investment plan and why its only somalis thats posting stuff like this awdal movement's lowkey and desperate BS

When has Ethiopia ever improved the lives of Somalis?? The avg Somali in puntland is better educated than the one in the Somali region.
Some Somalis, especially in the Faafan region, feel that they are closer to the Oromo and Ethiopians than the rest of Somalis
I do not think that a person in PL is better off. PLresidents always come to hospitals there .

If they want tax free port in exchange of electricity it could be a win win but no one willing to lease his lands to a foreigner in exchange of a company that could go bankrupt anytime

Lease kulaha. He wants ownership of a port in exchange for shares in a company. He sounds entitled as well:mjohreally:

They go there not because somalis are developed over there but actually the educated and wealthy ethiopians from oromo and amhara build hospitals all over harar, dirdawa and jigjiga and somalis go there cuz its cheap and not that much far

Who are the Somalis in Faafan that are closer to Oromos/Ethiopians than the rest of Somalis (with the exception of border clans who are mixed with Oromos)? :draketf:

Most of the clans mix with them there, all of them, but especially the Dirr clans, some of whom will support the annexation of their relatives in Awdal to Ethiopia.

He also mentioned how he could use resources/dependency to indirectly force countries into accepting Ethiopia’s demand.

He gave an example of how the origin of the two rivers in Somalia are located inside Ethiopia and that they have a right to get something in return for the river to keep flowing to neighboring countries, lol.

Otherwise, we don’t know what they might do. Maybe build more dams so our rivers gets dry? :kanyehmm:

We should tell them close the rivers if you want, when they get your ports eventually they will drain up the rivers anyways.

But that’s another thing. Accepting an annexation into Ethiopia isn’t the same as being closer to Oromos/Ethiopians than their fellow Somalis.

If they ever are in favor of such proposal, it’s mainly to do with politics and that they see better potential development or representation under Ethiopia or whatever it may be. But I can guarantee you that their reasoning for joining Ethiopia isn’t that they are closer to Oromos than Somalis inside Somalia, but due to their clansmen already living there.

And no. Most clans in Faafan don’t mix with Oromos. I don’t even know where you got that from. You even said ‘all of them’ kkk :wtf:

The thing I figured out here is that habashi dont make jokes about the future of his country no matter what, while ethiopia is in the middle of a civil war, they are still thinking how to secure a better ethiopia for their future generations while the random somali poltician focused on looting wealth of his local community.

But I dont think we should bargain our costs with things we already got in our hands, they should be discussed seoarately or else we should come up with another bargaining chips
