Axum was easily karbashed by Persia so I have doubts on one of the greatest powers thing. They were more so on the level of something like Armenia
Everyone got karbashed by Persia :damn: not us though :hillarybiz:

From 500 until 570-575, Himyarite was ruled by Axumite Kings, with the exception of 522-528 when they briefly lost power. The royal inscriptions are all written in Ge'ez alphabet during this period. So I was detailing the extent of territory ruled by the Axumite King in 519-522, about 16 years before Abraha's reign.

As for Abraha, this royal inscription in Saudi Arabia details his territorial control in 552:

It says:
The king Abraha Zybmn, King of Sabaʾ and Dhū-Raydān and Hadramaut and Yemen and their Arabs of Ṭawdum and Tihāmat, wrote this inscription when he returned from the land of Maʿaddum , when he seized the Arabs of Maʿaddum fro[m Mun]dhirān and drove out ʿAmr, son of Mundhirān, and he subjugated all the Arabs of Maʿaddum [and Ha]garum and Khaṭṭ and Ṭayyum and Yathrib and Guzām.

The territories are explained here:

From Jordan until UAE, was controlled by Abraha according to archeological evidence.
Most historians are now in agreement that Abraha entered Mecca/Medine through the Hijaz port not from Yemen all the way there. It's not even possible for the elephants to make that distance (Especially African elephants) Abraha was mostly situated in Najran with the Arab Christians there and didn't consolidate power in mainland Yemen, but there was alliances/enemies with other Yemeni states the whole thing was broken up. That whole period still has a lot of mystery and not a lot of info outside second hand sources which don't make a lot of sense. Also Abraha referenced himself as descending from a Himyarite tribe not sure if it's actually true or just to fit in with everyone else

King Caleb put in place a local Yemeni christian but he was deposed by Abraha (according to myth)

"Around 535, his army commander, Abraha, deposed him and assumed the throne of Ḥimyar. Upon receiving this news, Kaleb sent two military expeditions against Abraha, but the king managed to negotiate and agreement with Kaleb’s soldiers the first time, and then crushed Kaleb’s second expedition"

Abraha mentions himself as being from the Ma'ahir tribe which was mentioned many times throughout himyar

"More interestingly, he refused to act as a vassal king of Aksūm, as can be fairly deduced from the way in which his official inscriptions display his “will to main- tain, if not to restore, the brilliance of the cradle of South Arabian civilisation and thus to consolida- te a contested legitimacy by acting as an indigenous sovereign” (Robin 2012b: 285; cf. Gajda 2009: 119)."

We also have no idea what the hell happened after Abraha was killed by the birds its alluded his sons ruled but there is no inscriptions from this time. It's also alleged Iran ruled and kept Yemen as a vassal but there isn't any historical legacy or mention of them

Also tigray was formed by the Habshat tribe from Yemen (Probably from Marib it appears) and they formed the Settlement of Damot which is the predecessor or Aksum. Ge'ez looks similar to the ancient yemeni language for this reason and many Eritreans/Tigrayans have straight semitic blood/paternal lineage. We still need to wait for more info and archaeological evidence to take place especially considering they have been lying forever. They say the queen of sheba and coffee is ethiopian when it was from south arabia and claiming a solomonic lineage
