Why did you run away from the population census thread

The last government recorded census 1975-1980 showed Puntland as a mere 4% of the former Somali republic. That percentage was consistent in the 1980s, 1970s 1950s, 1930s. The cooked numbers that Puntland gives to NGOS and the UN in hopes that they write you a bigger welfare check is irrelevant. The discrepancy of the 2005 and 2014 pops are discussed in the quote below which is in the another thread. Just like printing fake monies to inflate your economy didnt work, so wont this. Everything is coming full surface and as Somalia normalizes you have the most to lose

Maybe they didn't teach you math in elementary school but the 1975 census had Bari at 4.4%, Nugaal at 2.2% and North Mudug at 3.1% if you add all that up those regions were almost 10% of the population not 4%.

The discrepancy in these new estimates is glaring. Just as an example, in 2005, Puntland region was reported as follows:

Bari (367,638)+ Nugaal (145,341) = 512,979 this is equivalent to 6.83% of the total population of the former Somali Republic.

In the 2014 report, the same area, Puntland region was reported as follows:

Bari (719,512) + Nugaal (392,698) = 1,112,210 or 9.02% of the population.

A % change of this magnitude is a statistical impossibility.

If we do the exact same thing with W/Galbeed and Togdheer regions.

The UNDP report of 2005 had W/Galbeed at (700,345) + Togdheer (402,295)=1,102,640 or 14.6%.

In the 2014 report, the same area, W/Galbeed and Togdheer regions were reported as follows:
W/Galbeed (1,242,003) + Togdheer (721,363)= 1,963,366 or 15.9% of the total population.

W/Galbeed and Togdheer were 14,6% of the total population in 2005 and 15.9% of the total population in 2014. The difference is 1.3%.


Bari and Nugaal were 6.83% of the total population in 2005 and 9.02% of the total population in 2014. The difference is just 2.19%.

The all insidious all powerful "discrepancies" you're so emphatically trying to discredit this report for is that Puntland allegedly cooked up 0.89% more numbers than Somaliland. It's IDIOTIC BEYOND MEASURE. Worst argument I have ever seen in my entire life.

Good question bro. Most of the participants are common folk not actual traditional heads. Only the new Abgaal Imam delivered a speech at the beginning the rest were Xaad & co. These conferences are more about representing the silent majority and keeping togetherness in this changing climate. Without them, Xamar affairs would be left between Politicians and that is dangerous because politicians will use the clan name as a platform.

Those regions have their own guurtis but this has a focus on Xamar which has the highest population in the country. Odayaal do not have to come together within some federal framework, Hirshabelle is not even a real admin so who can represent this state?
