Somaliland has been seducing Israel for a long time, since the 1960s, before they were even a discussion, their politicians were exchanging letters with Israel. Don't be surprised if they begged for independence, in exchange for being an outpost for greater Israel. Their average civilian is either clueless, or complicit.
I foresee a future like Djibouti if this all goes ahead, but worse, because there will be constant attacks from Harti, not to mention Ogaadeen will probably join in on economically punishing them from DDSI.
The best "independence" to seek, is to stop claiming Harti land, and then get the blessing from Somalis. Instead of becoming a Pariah. Most of us don't care if you want to be independent, just stop the haram antics of claiming other people's land.

Instead of throwing away all that xamar aid money on lobbying, SL should sign peace deal with SSC, properly demarcate its border, and invest in public infrastructure and the various state amenities. Then youβd have a strong case for independence.
SL actually needs to prove to the international community and African Union in particular that it has a good case for secession, itβs had 34 years to do so but itβs still at square one.

Won't war just automatically break out if they get recognised? The best thing Ciro can do if independence happens is to cede claims to Harti lands, its the best path to peace.

If you want to frame it as Isaaq claiming Harti land, then the last 34 years has been Hawiye/Darood claming Isaaq lands, and if SL acheives unilateral secession, Harti too must seek unilateral secession. Don't ask from others that which you didn't give, otherwise it's just hypocrisy.
If for example a partition deal was offered before, then you could argue SL was being hypocritical but it was never offered so why should SL offer a partition deal? Just not how things work.

Honestly give it some time. Change can happen in a few decades, look at China in 1950s and look at it now, look at Poland in 1990s, look at it now.

Somalia should take its opportunity to normalize relations with Somaliland and recognize it first. This will clean the slate and ensure the two countries have good relations moving forward. Otherwise we will set our first consulate in Garowe and support PL as a buffer state. We will not recognize PL but we will begin informal diplomatic relations there. Unless Somalia recognizes us we will not recognize them and we will work with parts of Somalia.
This is what is waiting for Somalia unless it does the right thing now.

Obviously if SOmalia keeps it's delusional claims, we cannot recognize Somalia. What's next? We support the friendly parts of Somalia our border region, Puntland. This is all simple stuff.
Anyway if Somaliland is recognized you shouldn't want to make enemies of Somaliland, recognizing first is the only way to ensure you don't end up with an enemy on your doorstep that knows your problems inside out.
