This is despite the fact that it's still largely a taboo for many Somali tribes, ostensibly of the same ethnicity, to marry each other in that country and intermarriage is a very rare occurrence. I've seen it myself and will wager many other members here have as well, which is why you aren't getting much support on this. The truth of the matter is, Somalis see their tribe as their "ethnic group" and see marrying another tribe as marrying a completely different and unrelated ethnic group. That is you will find many Lamagoodleys who prefer their sons and daughters to marry either among the so-called minorities who aren't "ethnic Somalis", such as reer Barawi, over other tribes that they apparently share an ethnicity with. In many cases, they would even prefer abu Tyrone over a well established farax from a different tribe. Again, so much for the "Somali ethnic group".
