I'm from toronto, 65% of that age range are still single...

I was speaking about men and let’s make it 40% of Somali men between that age are married or engaged.That’s still far higher than the rates of younger generation gaalo for example where men start marrying 30+
I still think Somali men have higher rates of marriage than Somali women tho, you can find women who are 30+ who never been married.Some of them are on this forum too

I think there are many factors at play.Somali women are more educated than Somali men, Somali women have less options of available spouses to choose from compared to Somali men, men for example can marry ajanabis whether Muslim or Gaal while Somali women even if they wanted to marry other Muslim ethnicities, since Muslim men from the MENA & South Asia are less likely to marry them and other Black Muslim women.Some Somali women have increasingly become career-oriented and have no interest in starting families as well

It also doesn’t help there are a lot of Somali male bums who are not suitable for marriage

Somalis will become assimilated, it’s bound to happen unless we start getting waves of Somali immigrants fresh from the homeland the way South Asians and East Asians do.I think in the future you will find descendants of Somalis who identify as Somali or have partial Somali ancestry, speak a western language but manage to hold on to their seen.The religion is the only thing I can see that we can pass on for generations and the West will have a very admixed Muslim population.You will see a Muslim in few generations claim to have Bengali,Indonesian,Iraqi and Somali blood

1.U are only allowed to do that in specific circumstances with a benefit, Umar ibnul khattab recommended against it and that was during the sahabas time when the ahlul kitaab were practising
2.None of the non-muslim ahlul kitaab today are practising except a very few, the somalis I see marryng non Muslims most of the time dont even marry ahlul kitaab anyway, even if they do the person isnt a practising ahlul kitaab they are just that by name
So all in all no 99% of the time it is not permissible, even if it is it is usually makrooh as there are so many bad thing that come as a result of it

we need to stop saying that we need to get married at late 20s 30s, that’s selfish in terms of your children who in 20 years later when your children are into adulthood you and your wife would be too old, feels as though you are a grandad/ma rather than a dad and on the verge of death, plus you will unlikely to see your grandkids. There are also the risk of birth defects etc in older couples.

come on man, I know what you’re advocating and you’re right but you lot need to understand that everyone has a time line and that even if you do marry young, you are still going to ‘old’ parents if you have a lot of kids or you space your kids out.

Also, talking about birth defects is a joke. Many women get married young, but still have children at 35+. Do you recommend that they stop having children with their husbands after their 20s, like what is the end goal here?

Answer my questions sincerely as I do believe that both men and women should aim to marry in their 20s. I just disagree with the scaremongering as young mothers always still continue having kids well up into their early 30s as I’ve mentioned my younger sister and I have a big age gap and I also have an older sister who is in her 30s whilst the youngest is 11.

This is common to the ummah in general, or so it seems. many sisters in my city [Austin, TX] are single too, and it seems it's a combination of factors or reasons- 1. some of them are too picky, 2. not enough brothers who are eligible, 3. women focusing on career to the point that they see marriage as a burden and something that should be put off temporarily or permanently; part of this or a big part is the pressure of their parents too who may have migrated here from india, pakistan, ethiopia, somalia, etc, who over-emphasize the importance of degrees, prestigious jobs/titles, etc, over marriage, forgetting that when they were their kids ages their desires were strong- not just for halal relations, but for companionship in general.
