Yeah, the Baydhabo friend said Gedo af maay is harder for other Somalis to understand than his.
Hopefully Af Maxatiri gets eradicated from Dooy and Dhoobey, no more hearing mudug dialects being spoken outside of mudug
I don't think there's a dialect specific to Gedo, you'll hear the same dialect of af maay in Bakool and Bay aswell

I personally believe they can coexist. AF Maay will also pass the boundaries of Koonfur and reach waqooyi.

Hes actually right. Baay and Bakool and Gedo actually speak identical version of Af Maay.

Your own Banadiri creole language of Chimwini has almost disappeared from Somalia within one generation. Worry about that.
In fact, realistically speaking, af-Maay will most likely be confined to KG in formal education. I highly doubt that any other FMS will incorporate it in their curriculum, especially Banaadir or JL.

What's the issue with non Maay speakers learning Maay in kgs. In the west you learn in English even though you are Somali. It's just the medium of teaching.
