"How do I learn more about Somali History"

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Harla is not a Somali clan. They are ethno-semeties. You guys are hilarious. The Arabic-speaking nomadic tribe of Beja (Balaw) are Somalis. Harla are Somalis. What's next? Yemenis are Somalis. Everyone is Somali. If Ciise and Samaroon historically inhabited Zeila and Awdal, can you name a single Somali leader prior to the 19th century? It's not rocket science.
So what are the names of these supposedly Arab rulers of Zeila then? And no, you can't list the
ones from Yemen because they were literally ruling it from Mocha, a different city as a dependency.

The only native rulers we know of are members of the Walashma dynasty and they sure as hell weren't Arab.

It is well known that the Xarla are descendents of Xarla Koombe Kablalax Daarood, and they are brothers of Harti Koombe and Geri Koombe. Here is their lineage:

The Xarla were at one point mentioned as being one of the Somali tribes in the Futuh:

Thereupon the emir Husain bin Abu Bakr al-Gaturl arose and said to the imam
Ahmad, โ€˜This will never happen. If they want war. then we will assemble our armies from the people of Sim and from the Somali tribes: the tribe of Girri, the tribe of Habr Maqdi, the tribe of Harla, for our armies have been dispersed. How can we do as they wish? We shall not surrender the country to them.โ€™

The reason why the Xarla were often distinguished from the rest of the Somali tribes is because they spoke their own dialect called af xarlaad and were mostly farmers. There is also no evidence of them being ethio semitic speakers.

It doesnโ€™t matter if the Harla were Somali sub no matter what these towns were built by Somalis archaeologists confirm

I wonder why he feels the need to discredit anything built by the noble labogoodle. Why have an inferiority complex against us when your ancestors built such wonderful works of art like this:

There should be a sticky that has information about Somali history. It should have links to primers, introductory books and authors that one can read to get a better understanding of our history to prevent misunderstandings and false information from spreading.
Yeah I agree we need a archive of some sort.

There was a mega link that had all sorts of information about Somali history, culture and society but unfortunately all the data from the link is now lost and I didn't save it.

If you go to it now its mostly empty folders. Maybe if someone contacts Qudhac for a new mega link or something we could get it back since it was pretty comprehensive

The guy that made it left somalispot?

Reer Ciise and Samaroon entered the Awdal region after the fall of the Adal Sultanate. Nomadic societies do not have a settled population. They are constantly on the move. Fortified walls were constructed in Zeila by Arab rulers to avert nomadic incursions.

Can you please name a single Somali ruler in Zeila prior to the 19th century? There must have been a Somali leader in Zeila or Awdal before the 19th century if Reer Ciise or Samaroon have historically inhabited the region.
That's cap, you Xabashi.

All countries have had vernacular architecture hereโ€™s a couple from your homeland
View attachment 312959
The vernacular architecture for Somali nomads is actually very innovative for a nomad. Styles like Cariish for example are large multi-room complex homes that can be made, deconstructed and rebuilt over and over again while the nomad is on the move. Itโ€™s far more creative than the Arabs or the Mongols tents.

However, keep in mind that this is just vernacular architecture, itโ€™s meant to be an architectural style that is designed based off of the local needs and availability of construction materials. Itโ€™s not the end all be all of Somali architecture as this is just for a select part of society, just like how nobody conflates Arab nomadic dwellings with all Arab architecture.
