I don't have Mota, either, and my family is from K5. I don't think that theory rings true.
Doesn’t mean you represent the average and K5 is a large region. There’s a Samarone & his ayeeyo on this thread who get Mota.Seen a few JB/HB of Gabiley who also get minor Mota. This part of Somaliweyn has more Mota on average compared to Central/Eastern SL,Hawd & PL but these regions are also more Arabian

The Mota is confusing in some source i get a small amount of mota but when i select other source its absent. Like the one shared by @Themusketeer my mota is 3.8

Are you sure cause, I thought Mota was rare, does the sample you collected show that Central/Eastern SL, Hawd & PL to have the highest Arabian and Western SL, regions like arabsiyo, abarso, gabily, wajaley to K5 have mota + Arabian? Also was there not a person from Central/Eastern somaliland that shared his result which showed he has the highest Mota in your collections so far, about 8%.

I will try these reference populations again. I have a feeling we have some variability in the Northwest. I think location, family history and marital patterns have a role to play. Though I am quite Reer Galbeed (family from K5, Awdal and Djibouti).

agreed i think theory should be looked over.

Anyway, here are some results, as promised. When focusing on the scaled results, it's 0 or 0.4, which is about the same or even lower than many of the results from the Eastern dwellers.

Nice to compare. Thanks. Pretty similar first one. It seems both times it just doesn’t bother including the Ethiopian_4500BP (rather than including it but putting 0.0 like for you) and ETH_Mota despite running it in the source along with the other cords.
