From my research, they are of oromo origin, but very much inter-married with, and influenced by, their somali neighbors, especially habr awal. they are even allies in wars, the akishu and habr awal.
akisho/akishu and gurre, are the same group, just a different name.

Have you met any that identify as Oromo? @AfranQallo

What do you guys know about them since apparently they live and intermarry with your clan in Somaliland?

I don't know these uneducated people are spreading this misinformation but the Akisho name is originally derived from "Cayisho" which means in old Somali the (Cayilsan) "Fat One." Also, the other nickname of the Akisho, Gurre, is derived from one who doesn't "hear" because they did not speak the Oromo language when they settled among the Oromo of Bale and Arsi around 1600.

Akisho are pure Somalis and a sub-clan of Dir. It's just some of their members in Hararghe were assimilated by the Oromos during the weakening of Adal Sultanate.

In Somaliland, they are a relatively peaceful and religious group that live amongst my sub sub-clan in Gabiley district. They also practise agriculture similar to Jibril Abokor sub-division of Habar Awal that dominate Gabiley district and yes, we intermarry with them. They are good people from what I have heard.

When have I ever called your folks Afars? You're confusing me with someone else. Also, you've admitted many Dir sub-clans that used to dominate Hararghe were assimilated by the Oromos after the weakening of Adal Sultanate. I don't care if you don't claim them anymore but this is history.

By the way, most Gurgura identify themselves as Dir and are reer T1a who are holding it down in Dire Dawa (Dir Dhabe) so if I was you, I wouldn't let them be Oromonized or else you'd lose Dir Dhabe to the Oromos.

I think Gurgura are the least "Oromo" of the three. Even Oromos see them as an adopted clan while they see Jaarso and Akisho as one of them.

Also without Gurgura, Issa have no chance in Dire Dawa.

Of the Akisho and Jaarso, which ones in your experience claim Somali more?

Both have groups amongst them that claim Somali and those that claim Oromo.

All the Akichu and Jaarso I’ve met claim Oromo. I haven’t met any that claimed Somali.

From what I hear, the Akichu who are deep in somali territory, east of Jijiga and in Somaliland are fully Somali today. The Jarso for the most part are all Oromo speakers, with few deeper into Somali territory who only speak Somali.

Many of them identity as Oromo. The ones who live in Hararge are fully Oromo. They are children of the Oborra Afran Qallo clan.
The ones who live around dire dawa do have Oromo admixture but most Akisho are pure Somalis and live in K5 and SL.
@anonimo knows more about Akisho and will tell you the truth.

Zumal, come in warya.

Those living in galbeed and Somaliland are definitely Somali today. But they still have Oromo origins. A lot of Oromo “expansion” history talks about the Akichu who were the strongest Bareentu clan with the Arsi.

So:

Akisho
Jaarso
Gurgura
Garre
Barsuug
Karanle
Sheekhaal
Gugundhabe

Are the Somali/Oromo dual clans in Ethiopia? Is that the full list?

He's full of shit. Gurgura are currently allied with Issa in Dir Dhabe against the Oromos. They even have an organization together, only a small number of them speak Oromo because their farms mingle with the Afran Qallo.
