I don't think "wiping" out a particular clan was ever part of the agenda, although I vehemently disagree with the events that unfolded in Northern Somalia in the late 80s.

From a purely utillitarian perspective, it would've been preferable to live under a repressive regime than the anarchy of the last quarter century and counting.

What anarchy? SL has been peaceful for the last quarter century and counting:drakegrin:.... See how we live in polar opposites? My suffering in the late 70s and 80s was bad but as you said it was "preferable to live under a repressive regime"...maybe I should feel the same regarding the last 25 years of anarchy in the south, the rather them than us mentality wanlaweyn display:cosbyhmm:

I don't agree with the Kacaan's economic policies whatsoever. However, I do think that with time the economy would've been more liberalized. There were signs right near the end that the economy was beginning to open up. Africa as a whole experienced significant economic growth in the past two decades, growth and development that passed us by.

Once again, from a utilitarian perspective, the needs of the many must come before the needs of the few. Although I do not in principle agree with governmental repression, knowing what we know now, it would have been preferable for the government to end the rebellion.

In your mind, Somaliland might be distinct from the rest of Somalia but I assure you the world does not. You are a region of a failed state, you have no access to international financial markets, you are under an arms embargo that forces you to arm yourselves with Korean war era weaponry, you have no industry to speak of, you're incredibly impoverished by even African standards etc. These aren't issues Somaliland faces alone. These are issues that are a direct result of our collective status as the world's first failed state.

And yet you choose to blame everyone except the regime that caused all of this:camby:.

As for your other points, Alx SL is light years ahead of what it was under your Massiah. Since you measure the common good by comparing your state today vs yesterday, I as a Lander will result to the same.

They did not cause it, the rebels caused it. Had the regime won, there would not have been a failed state.

I genuinely wish nothing but the best for all Somalis, but it is folly of the highest order to ignore reality in favor of meaningless rhetoric. Somalis live in a failed state, regardless of what they call themselves.

They're a vulnerable impoverished ethnic group on the verge of extinction when it doesn't rain for a few weeks. They're a people whose rivers can be stopped at a moment's notice. They're a people that cannot defend themselves against their neighbors. They're a peoole who would rather risk being held prisoner in a camp in the Sahara than live another day in Somalia.

This is the consequence of living in a failed state.

Sxb you can't even see your own bias. You think these groups just woke up one day and said, "hey let's fok up this amazing government and the entire country "?

You even deny the government agenda to subjugate one clan specifically, although this government, state sponsored groups like "dabar goynta isaaqa( Isaaq back breakers) ":draketf:. Let's just stop talkin bruh, seriously!

The corruption was real but Mogadishu was and still is the capital of Somalia. I condemn the clan cleansing which happened there I can't believe people still say this shit. This is why we have clan states today and why Somalia is in tatters, no freedom to move around the country.

:tuckerwtf:so who/wat was ultimately responsible for the clan cleansing

ultimately hawiye nd isaaq were two major clans marginalized by the kacaan- right or wrong they were bound to clap back

im MOD myself but im not delusional

Why you do not mind your business and focus on Oromo protest instead of interfering in Somali matters? Your people and country Ethiopia need you not Somali matters.
