It was the Gadabursi who did the most mediating in the mid-90s wars. The Gadabursi are a very pragmatic and versatile clan who quickly adapted to the reality of Isaaq hegemony in SL which is why they held 8 year presidency under Kaahin.

Dhulbahante on the other hand, while they have the numbers to be very influential clan in Somaliland politics the clan as a whole is without a doubt very anti-Somaliland so they have been sidelined by the Gadabursi.

That is why the number 2 clan in SL politics is Gadabursi for the time being since their political elite in Somaliland is on board with the project.

Why are you afraid of a Darood leader, we have a proven record of running shit. I mean just look at puntland, jubbland, DDSI and the federal gov are all prospering and there all run by Darood. So when you say accept Isaaq rule thats like saying accept failure. As proven by SL track record i dont see anything that has been accomplished.

They have to understand the SL needs a strong Darood leader that would legitimize SL as being a true state and not just a one clan enclave. Gadabursi hasnt been relevant in the SL project in awhile, they keep a low profile and just do their own thing. Plus i think their working on creating their own state on the low. Dhulo have more representation in the SL govermnet then Gadabursi do currently. Gadabursi dont have any bargaining chips their basically being held hostage. Also we're not going to fully embrace something that hasnt proven its self as a real government but is more like a criminal organization thats steals from its citizens. Dhulos have alot bargaining room and SL have no choice but to play our game.
