Minnesota Muslims are divided over presidential race, with some abandoning Democrats over Gaza
The Abandon Harris movement, which started in Minnesota, is encouraging Muslims to cast a protest vote.

I was reading this in the paper today cant believe this little section described the situation of minnesota somalis so well, Im sick and tired of impovershied somali europe immigrants keep hating on my takes.
This accounts for all the sides, all the democrat somalis in office of course their backing kamala out of party doctrine (maybe fear too).
But the people they think otherwise, every single take on here I can corroborate this is how mn somalis feel. Only thing im weirded out by is the muslim leaders endorsing a candidate, I really dont think they should be endorsing anyone at all.
Heres a particular take I read in the article that just had me agreeing 100%
The voter, Sharmake Mohamud of Rosemount, owns a trucking company and usually votes Democrat. Now, his top issue is the economy, which he said is “terrible.” It was better under Trump, he said.
Is he concerned about Gaza? Mohamud maintains that no candidate can win the office without the influential American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a pro-Israel lobbying group, so Gaza won’t be a factor in his presidential vote.
Asked if he would also back Trump, the man next to Mohamud said, “Hell, no.” He’s concerned about the war and is voting third-party.
Even the cedar somalis are frustrated
If 35% 40% are willingly voting for trump, imagine the amount that is voting third party or completely abstaining?Jovita Morales, leader of the Minnesota Immigrant Movement, said that when she knocked on doors in the last election in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis, all but one Somali American planned to vote Democrat. She estimated, to her shock, that 35% or 40% of those who answered the door this fall said they would vote for Trump.
This abandon kamala movement is real and gaining traction and any somali in minnesota knows this is the case, unlike a handful of confused users here -- this is even coming from the star tribune...
