Mostly students, but there a few hundred (maybe even a few thousand) Somali permanent residents there. India is a major trading partner of Somalia. A lot of the stuff sold in Somalia comes from India.

4 votes for South Africa seems like some Somalis are masochists :silanyolaugh:
 People saying South Africa are serial pathological liars

20 years in Xamar is equal to a single day in Cape Town when it comes to crime, craziness and just living.

I already have been to Cape Town. I didn't feel unsafe. Also, the culture is semi-Western, feel more at home there than I would in other non-Western Somali diaspora areas.

i already don't live in the West. living in a non-western country has it is own downsides such us being there on a visa forever when you can obtain passport in Europe or America.

Tell us a bit about the pros and cons about living as a Somali in Malaysia. Should be interesting. Be elaborate if you can.
i went there us a student. a lot of Somalis live here whether they are a refugee or a student.
the only cons i see in this country is the restriction on some activities such as jobs or wanting to get into university if you are refugee or just jobs if you are a student.
all of other areas are great form low crime to low cost of living.

What's the cost of living there sxb? Also why are there restrictions on jobs?

they are Somali refugees who are waiting to be taken to Europe or America. these refugees cannot enrol in university (they can finish universities since waiting time is over five year to to west) since they need a student visa and you cannot get student visa if you are a refugee.
they cannot get a job because they need working visa and you cannot get working visa if you are refugee.
basically they have to have someone who is maybe in the west to send them money in order to live here.

cost of living here is a bit more expensive than Turkey. it depends on your lifestyle.
minimum $300 you need if you are single. i lived in a house with other 3 people of 4 bedroom and the rent was $350 per month. houses here are cheap compared to Somalis.

Wouldn’t want to pick UAE since I have negative experiences there and that also goes for other gulf countries too. Wouldn’t want to pick Egypt because I heard things about Egypt not necessarily pertaining to racism. Wouldn’t pick Turkey because I don’t like how much influence it has over large amount of Somalis. Wouldn’t pick South Africa, Tanzania or Zambia since I have no desire to visit or live in Sub-Saharan African countries plus South Africa is not a good country for Somalis. Saudi Arabia? Nah, only for Hajj. Pakistan or India? Definitely a no to both.

I picked Malaysia or Indonesia because it looks different plus they are both Muslim countries even though being a Muslim country isn’t a factor for me but it would be interesting to experience that part of the world.
