They're far less tolerant in the South, but even far Right-wingers don't typically go out and actually harm gays. Most they do is make signs and chant, "God hates fags!" and cheerlead when people like the Orlando club shooter do shit.
Only a very small minority of people will feel this is useful to them. Some of them are genuinely and some of them are attention seekers. But there's no need for anyone to be up in arms about it or angry because it doesn't affect you in any way and the chances of you even meeting one of them are slim. For the genuine people, I feel bad for them because it must be traumatizing to live that life. When people take the piss about things like this you only give the attention seekers what they want and make life more difficult for the ones who already have very difficult lives through no fault of their own. So I can't see a point in it.
