Much needed and very much over due. No population records means no way to even measure projects against population benefits or decide on priorities. It also effects development of id cards which can lead to data sharing between courts, police, banks, it's really crippling us and puntitequeen is silent.

It effects everything when things are informal. You can't really even capture GDP or growth and declines. U can't control criminal database for courts(repeat offenders) or people on police watch lists. Banks can't give loans to people they can't confirm and verify. Even income taxes are all being dodged cause who can identify their id or audit their bank accounts.

To Formalise a state or market u need to formalise the people first, from there you can formalise every section of society. We don't even use data to guide where projects over best returns.

Somalis really cherish chaotic ungoverned.spaces, what has that got them.for 30 years they never ask themselves.

Carmo is more populated then all those cities. 23 years ago, it was populated when I visited, and I can't imagine now. It was a tuulo back then.

Burtinle was smaller tuulo compared to carmo. It was and still is a stop for people traveling to Gaalkacyo. As for Buursaalax, it's a village now?

Your first mistake is assuming that I’m thinking about it from some stupid cavemen fighting perspective. States have an incentive to inflate their numbers in order to increase their governmental representation as well as aid money. If Somalia moves to 1M1V in ten years you think PL won’t demand that their allotment of seats for the lower house reflect their own internal census? Doesn’t matter how legitimate that census is or isn’t. People is power in politics.
