Somalis don't want them, usually. Despite how poor and ruined our country is there's a hilarious "Mexican" type situation where, in reality, the Oromos and Xabashis are not actually stealing any jobs. They do the work Somalis don't want to do. All the menial labor work that Somalis, similar to Arabs, feel is beneath them. Unfortunately for us, we lack the petrodollars to justify such hubris in this day and age.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA! I laughed out loud at this. HAHAHAHAHAAHAH! So fucking true. HAHHAHAHAHA! Lots of scholars, including Somali ones, have observed the inherently egalitarian nature of our culture, though. Even the old Suldaans, Garaads and the like were not unapproachable sacrosanct rulers but more often than not just the first among equals who were always at risk of being deposed if their followers were unhappy with them and being deposed not even just be their next of kin but sometimes by an entirely different tol altogether if that one proved more respectable.

Only I think in the riverine south do you get some semblance of something very feudal going on where the local Somalis even admonished their Ajuraan, Geledi and Silcis rulers by accusing them of practicing prima nocta to show how tyrannical they could be but even there I somehow doubt they were as feared and revered as say the Abyssinian Emperors.

This definitely contributes to how unruly and "wild" Somalis have always been. No man thinks himself beneath another and instilling order onto them is difficult. Even our women were noted to be given more freedoms and control than in other cultures of the Greater Middle-East. You know like three of the Sayyids wives were commanders in his army?

Somalis were also, historically speaking, not necessarily like our distant relatives in the Peninsula when it came to women.
